  March from Brooklyn to Manhattan protesting the police shooting of unarmed West African immigrant Amadou Diallo. On February 4, 1999 four members of the NYPD’s Street Crimes Unit fired 41 shots at Diallo striking him 19 times and killing him instantly. The shooting sparked months of protests in which over 1200 people- among them celebrities, politicians and community leaders- were arrested. The four officers were later aquitted on murder charges.
